How to
How to separate vocals from a song
Removing a vocal hides the singer. Separating a vocal keeps the singer as a stem you can solo, balance, or export next to the instrumental. Take One does both from the same split: one vocal stem, one instrumental stem, processed on the iPhone.
Steps
- Record a performance, or import a video you already shot.
- Run separation. The app divides the audio into vocal and instrumental. Processing time depends on the length of the recording and the iPhone.
- On Mix, solo the vocal or set the two faders until each stem is useful on its own.
- With Studio, export vocals and instruments as separate WAV files. They share a start point, so they line up when you drop them onto a DAW timeline together.
Limit
You get two stems. The instrumental is not divided again into drums, bass, guitar, or keys.
You are responsible for the rights to any song you import. Separating a commercial release does not grant the right to release the result.
